To represent BRA members, raising the profile and reputation of Bawtry as a prestigious destination town.

To increase foot-flow to the town and encourage shoppers to utilise a wider range of Bawtry’s shopping and night-life, through cross promotion, competitions and marketing of Bawtry.

WHAT IS BAWTRY RETAIL ASSOCIATION?

Bawtry Retail Association (BRA) was formed in 2011 by just a handful of independent retailers from the picturesque town of Bawtry, situated on the South Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire border. Since then it has grown in stature and now has 80 members, a chairperson and a secretary who all work together to promote Bawtry to the local and wider community encouraging people to support their local businesses and high street.

Whilst membership is charged at £20  per month , it remains a not-for-profit organisation which has the interest of its members and the town at its heart.

WHAT DO WE DO

Regular meetings are held at The Crown Hotel where matters are discussed following a formal agenda. The meetings provide an open forum where any member can post an agenda item, as well as present to other BRA members and share and discuss business news, ideas and activities.

We work in partnership with a local magazine to create a quarterly ‘Visit Bawtry’ magazine in which we share all our news with other businesses within the town, whilst enjoying reduced advertising rates.

Our website visitbawtry.com offers a cohesive communication and social media strategy, as well as a dedicated forum that ensures all members are kept up to date with the latest news, as well as providing consistently updated information for anyone who wants to visit the town.

We host a series of events throughout the year – all designed to raise the profile of Bawtry and its businesses. March is Bawtry Fashion Week, April is our annual Visit Bawtry Race Meeting at Doncaster Racecourse, and July is the Visit Bawtry Polo Cup at Vale of York Polo Club. We conclude the year with our Christmas Time Event.

We liaise with other business organisations in the town and invite them to speak to our members to provide news, updates and useful information. These include Bawtry Town Council (BTC) Doncaster Council, Doncaster Chamber of Commerce and Doncaster Racecourse. We have also forged a link with our local primary school, Mayflower, situated in the town.

Whilst the aim is to drive forward the day and night time economy of Bawtry we realise that by working with partners in the Doncaster area we can achieve more together which is mutually beneficial in placing Bawtry and Doncaster on the map.
