Two local business people who work in the picturesque town of Bawtry on the North Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire border are taking over the reins of its Retail Association (BRA).

Ross Jarvie, partner at Fine & Country and Sarah White, proprietor of Bawtry Eye Academy will assume the positions of Chair and Vice Chair respectively, taking over from Rebecca Dickenson proprietor at award winning salon The Vanilla Rooms.

“I have worked in Bawtry for almost a decade and love the tight knit feel of a small village mixed with the cosmopolitan buzz of city life,” said Ross. “I hope to build on the successes that we have achieved so far and drive Bawtry forward as a destination for both day and night, not just regionally but nationally too. I also  thank Rebecca wholeheartedly for all her work, and for providing a solid platform from which I can now lead.”

From its inception of just a few people meeting in a coffee shop, Bawtry Retail Association has expanded to over 70 members and organises some of the social highlights of the South Yorkshire calendar. It brings together experience, enthusiasm across a variety of business sectors all that work or have businesses within the town. Members work together to promote the town and its mix of independent businesses and retailers and vibrant social scene.

Sarah added; “Bawtry is a great place to do business and I love the community spirit of our independent retailers, many of who play key roles in the ongoing success of the town. BRA has helped to promote the town as a whole garnering excellent publicity and awareness and it brings together businesses and inspires team work amongst us all.”

In the future, Ross and Sarah aim to widen the scope of BRA and involve more retailers and businesses to promote the unique nature of Bawtry. Together, they are great ambassadors for the town having already been involved in the association for a number of years and promoting their own businesses independently to make them successful.

Ross concluded; “Sarah and I, together with the entire BRA membership look forward to achieving even more than we have done already and we look forward to meeting our members and making the association work for each and every one of them.”
