12 DAYS OF SUMMER IN BAWTRY
August is a great time to relax and get together with friends and family as holiday fever sweeps the nation and we thought we’d share some inspired ideas to enjoy in and around Bawtry.
1 – Start the month by celebrating Yorkshire Day on the 1st August and book a flight with Hummingbird Helicopters at Doncaster/Sheffield Airport and see Yorkshire from the air!
2 – Take a walk on the wild side and enjoy live music Safari Nights at the amazing Yorkshire Wildlife Park, just a few miles from Bawtry. They are taking place each Saturday during the month.
3 – Enjoy a leisurely lunch in the peace and quiet of Dower House Square. We’re thinking lunch time platters and afternoon tea, and perhaps a glass of fizz if the sun is shining!
4 – No time for lunch? Then dinner and drinks it will have to be. Gorgeous food of whatever type you fancy and outside terraces and courtyards for pre or post dinner drinks.
5 – And then, when you’ve done your research you can nominate your favourite restaurant in this year’s Eastside Readers’ Choice Award. Everyone who casts a vote will be entered into a draw, and one lucky winner will receive dinner for two at their favourite restaurant. 6 – Thursday nights sees Yorkshire Caravans host their ‘Get Ready for Summer Outdoor Adventures’. Open until 8pm there is fun for all the family and you can also grab a bite to eat at the onsite café – delicious!
7 – Not sorted your holiday wardrobe yet? Then fear not, there are some amazing boutiques in town which will get you sorted whether you are taking a staycation or cruising the high seas!
8 – And, when the wardrobe is organised it’s time for a little pre-holiday pampering. With award winning hairdressers and beauty salons you’ll leave feeling like a million dollars!
9 – In between all the shopping, pampering and dining we hope you can make time for a trip to Doncaster Racecourse. August sees its final two Music Live events: Ocean Colour Scene (5th August) and Texas (19th August).
10 – Or stay a little closer to home and dance ‘All Night Long’ at the China Rose on Thursday 24th August when the show time event will see Malcolm Pitt take to the stage as Lionel Richie.
11 – Why not have a summer splurge and make an investment in art from one of our fantastic art galleries. Limited 2 Art – one of the largest fine art galleries in the North of England has an amazing collection of fine art from over 80 artists, both nationally & internationally whilst John Bird Art Studio, a working gallery, offers a range of original artwork and many modern and traditional prints.
12 – And finally, on Bank Holiday weekend (Sunday 27th) – enjoy the sights and sounds of the 5th Classic, Historic and Supercar Pageant between 10am and 4pm.
