BAWTRY IS BACK IN BUSINESS!

It’s been fantastic to see Bawtry coming back to life as things have returned to normal. There’s been a great buzz about the place and there is much to look forward this summer  including the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations which will take place between 2nd and 5th June.

Bawtry Town Council are working closely with businesses in the town to plan some celebratory events and organise street bunting and flags to mark this historic occasion. To get the town in the Jubilee mood, all retailers and businesses are being encouraged to decorate their windows and shop fronts with red, white and blue!

On Thursday 2nd a beacon lighting event will take place, and on Saturday 4th June marquees will be placed along the Market Place for a celebratory tea party.

No sooner will the Jubilee celebrations be over then the Bawtry Arts Festival will be underway. Taking place between 18th and 25th June, this whole town event will involve all parts of the Bawtry community including individuals, retailers, pubs and restaurant, faith groups and community organisations to celebrate the artistic talent that we have in the town from painting to piano playing.

Preserving the history of the town is also important and fund raising to develop the old public facility block at the top of Gainsborough Road continues. Donations from businesses and members of the public would be gratefully received to allow us to transform the building into Bawtry Heritage Visitor Centre which will incorporate a Changing Place facility, making Bawtry fully inclusive.

In addition to the flagship events remember that Bawtry is a great destination for shopping and socialising. Home to many independent businesses, it’s a great place to while away a few hours, celebrate a special occasion, or linger a while longer with an overnight stay.

Ross Jarvie, Chair, Bawtry Retail Association commented; “From designer boutiques to unique gift shops, award winning salons to jewellery workshops, and a range of bars and eateries that offer everything from a cup of coffee to some of the best international cuisine in the region, Bawtry is a great place to be.

“After the trying times of the last couple of years, it’s great to see retailers, residents, our town council and others all coming together and being proud of what we have, and what we can achieve together.”
