The Ship

The Ship is located in Bawtry, on Gainsborough Road. At the capable hands of husband and wife duo Dave and Mandy Wallis, the couple took ownership of The Ship in 2007. Taking the venue from a drinkers pub, the couple worked 7 days a week to ensure they could turn the then-struggling venue into a destination people would visit with family to enjoy a home cooked meal that would be freshly prepared.

After three years, The Ship had won awards for CAMRA Pub of the Year and Best Food Pub. With a combined 50 years experience between the couple, it was evident they had the mindset to run a pub well and then took over another nearby pub until 2015.

It is an iconic venue in Bawtry that has been around for a number of years and since the restoration and new ownership, the pub has been thriving as a gastro destination for families and providing pub activities including a weekly pub quiz and embracing other events throughout the annual calendar including St Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, St Patrick’s Day and many more.

With a couple so approachable, it’s no wonder the place has gone from strength to strength and they have since fulfilled their dream of opening a B&B in France! Don’t worry, The Ship is most certainly in the capable hands of son Chris, providing the same home cooked food and real ale.
