Yorkshire Caravans of Bawtry, one of the country’s premier caravan retailers, has marked a special anniversary in its history with the first release of three hundred spaces on their newly converted 10-acre storage site adjacent to the current facility.
The late Derek Smith would have reached the grand old age of 90 on 22nd October 2019, and the spaces will be released on that date with a further 500 to follow by the end of the year.
“We are proud of our family heritage and that those ties still run through the business today,” said Jon Goulden Chairman Yorkshire Caravans. “Honouring this special event in our history by extending our business operations and sharing our ongoing success seemed a fitting way to honour Derek and the legacy that he has left.”
Derek joined his father in the business in 1950 and was affectionately known as ‘Mr Smith’. He was also famous for introducing some of the best caravan franchises in the industry and also the old 1980’s TV advertising slogan, ‘Can we ‘ave one Dad?’
“Our business is going from strength to strength and the next step was for us to offer increased storage that fulfilled the requirements of today’s caravan owners,” said Jon. “The new storage spaces, together with our existing storage facility, will make Yorkshire Caravans of Bawtry one of the largest caravan and storage facilities in the UK”.
The new secure plots will each offer a generous size of 7m deep and 8ft wide leaving 1.4m between each storage plot plus the well-designed site will allow easy manoeuvrability with a one-way system. The site has CaSSOA (Caravan Storage Site Owners Association) gold accreditation which is only awarded to sites providing the highest level of security.
Plans for a wash bay and tyre air facility are also in place for 2020 together with the launch of a VIP club offering added benefits including a rewards card, an option to buy online and collect in-store, a monthly prize draw and other exclusive member offers.
